along the dark hallway
dead knights in once shining armor
old witches' cats -
they don't scare me
memories of my living past
cut deep like broken glass
they haunt and taunt me
of my own foolish mistakes
nothing terrorizes me worse than myself
knowing there's a monster within me -
knowing that monster can possibly..
be me.
no longer does sun above head mean safety
no longer does company mean protection
no matter where i go,
this horror is within me
how do i escape myself?
for i am my own worst nightmare.
